Good Morning!

Joining in the fun and starting my 30 Days of Thanks!

Today I am thankful for MY HEALTH!

Today is also the day that we SHINE A LIGHT ON LUNG CANCER . Us girls over at Simply Southern Events have been working hard to bring this event to Tallahassee. We couldnt have done it without the help and support of many volunteers, businesses, patients and doctors. See you all tonight!!

Here is a little bit about the event.

The idea and inspiration for the National Shine A Light on Lung Cancer Vigil originated in Boston under the leadership and guidance of Diane Legg, a lung cancer survivor and founder of Lung Cancer Alliance's (LCA) Massachusetts Chapter. What began as a handful of dedicated volunteers on the steps of the capitol quickly grew to an annual event with hundreds of participants lighting up the Prudential Building in downtown Boston. Recognizing the potential, Diane and another amazing advocate, David Watson envisioned a national program offering the millions of people touched by lung cancer a simple yet inspirational and effective way of raising awareness, honoring loved ones, and getting involved in the movement for change. They created the first vigil website and toolkit which grew into what you see today. Last year, 65 vigils took place nationwide with thousands in attendance and community-based media sharing the real stories and faces of lung cancer.
